Oldtoy is a 2 year old project owned by a French musician from Boulogne-Billancourt, outside of Paris. In his own words:

"My guideline was to always keep a major acoustic spirit, almost all of the sounds I use come from my own instruments, which I then modify when assembling the songs.

Every time I wanted to follow a particular ambiance or genre, what I was building next was completely different.
The only permanent acoustic styles in my work are the dreamy and melancholic ones. I was never really able to clearly define my style.

The Son and the monkey is the purest track in terms of recording, I barely modified the melodic lines.
I focused this music on a guitar, a metallophone, a sitar and my voice with which I tried different sound textures and a simple beat for rhythm.
This title came to me naturally and is a reference to a musical dialogue between a monkey playing metallophone as if it was a little mechanic toy which we can hear in the intro; and the son who plays the guitar and sings.
It is a track with a classic building and a flow that came to me quickly. I really enjoyed working on it, it has been two years now and I can recall the process as if it was yesterday."
